Moment of inertia is a required physical quantity that research and control the flight's path and movement posture. It is also a measuring project that nuclear warheads, missiles, torpedoes, other weapons, launch vehicles, spacecraft, other space vehicles and carry equipment needed. Moment of inertia is one of the key factors of assessing the quality of various types of aerospace products. It must be accurately measured so as to test whether the product meets the design requirements.Using torsion pendulum in large complex shapes of objects to measure moment of inertia, the air damping will affect the measurement of torsion cycles, and bring inaccuracy of measurement. Therefore, the study on effects of air damping on the measurement can help to improve the measurement accuracy. This paper will complete the following tasks:Firstly,analyze the impact of air damping on complex shaped objects and research on measurement compensation model of Moment of inertia;Secondly, design and manufacture damping sample, use of HIT-115-type measurement system to get a lot of reliable experimental data.Thirdly, analyze and calculate the experimental data and research the discipline of the effects of air damping on the measurement of moment of inertia and verify the current measurement model's accuracy.Fourthly, according to the experimental results, research compensation algorithm of moment of inertia measurements under the conditions of damping.Endly, analyze the uncertainty of the measurement process and research the ways to improve the measurement accuracy and give uncertainty analysis report.
