With the growing globalization, national and international conferences keep increasing in quantity, scale and complexity. For any conference of large-scale or middle-scale, there is an inevitable problem of"Conference Preparation", which is prepared by governments or professional companies. It will cause huge economic loss if there is no available optimization program. The problem of Conference preparation includes conference theme, topic, name, place, time, participants, agenda, schedule, budgets and so on. Among them, problems like the reservation of hotels and meeting-rooms, the renting of car service are the major tasks of conference preparation are of more important. It takes us lots of thoughts and efforts in choosing hotels, renting meeting-rooms and meeting the requirements from representatives in order to maximize the benefits of conference affairs with the least expense, which calls for a multi-objective programming model.Multi-objective programming has always been a big challenge for National Undergraduate Mathematic Contest in Modeling (NUMCM) fields. This thesis introduces the background of conference preparation problem and the concept, significance and procedures of building a multi-objective programming model, according to the conference preparation problem of NUMCM 2009, Level D. The thesis adopts grey system GM (1, 1) to predict the number of participants and the satisfaction of participants. With regard to such factors as economy and convenience, the number of hotel rooms and the distance from hotel and conference room should be minimized when choosing hotels with a 0-1 programming model. Then an integer programming model is needed in determining number and location of hotel rooms. Next with the chosen hotels, the number of participants, the size of meeting rooms, number of meeting rooms and price of meeting rooms, AHP is also employed to determine the address of meeting rooms for group meetings. After that, according to the location of guest rooms and meeting rooms, the trip rates of conference participants and numbers of people in and out can be predicted with probability equivalency of one group. Hence the plan of renting car service can be determined with a model on cycle theory. At last, Lingo and Matlab are employed to achieve model solution.
