Combining with the project of Jiangsu province scholars climbing "The intelligent precision grinding methods and research on key technologies of CNC lead-screw grinding", According to the quality problems of ball screw in grinding processing, such as surface roughness, surface chatter, grinding burn and crack, the data collection system based on Visual Basic6.0 is developed. By the methods of theoretical analysis and experimental study, the temperature, vibration, and noise factors that effect the grinding quality of ball screw is studied in ball screw grinding to provide the theoretical basis for the grinding quality improvement of ball screw.The problem of grinding increased temperature is studied deeply, and the effects of grinding temperature on the grinding quality of screw are also discussed. The grinding mechanism analysis and experimental result show that the surface temperature of screw increases with the grinding depth and the workpiece speed, which cause deterioration of the screw surface morphology and the increased surface roughness of screw; To further study the relationship among grinding depth, workpiece speed and grinding temperature, the mathematic model of grinding temperature is established based on the theory of multiple regression analysis. At last, the experiment shows that theoretical value has better tally with the test result.The vibration of grinding processing is the important factor that damages the grinding machined surface and increases the shape error of ball screw. Based on the analysis of vibration principle and properties in grinding processing, the vibration testing system is designed. The vibration signals in three directions of eight key positions are collected by experiments and analyzed in time spectrum and frequency spectrum respectively; Grinding wheel stock, headstock and tailstock are the weak links of grinding machine vibration, and the main vibration sources are from grinding wheel stock and its motor, because their vibration frequency are maximum and similar by the theory study and experiments analysis; Based on the main source of vibration in grinding processing, the vibration restraining measures are proposed.The main source of noise and the relationship between noise and vibration are preliminary studied. The experimental analysis show that grinding sound pressure level increases with the increased grinding depth, but machine background noise is unchanged; grinding sound pressure level and machine background noise increase with the increased workpiece speed. Based on the conclusion, the noise restraining measures are proposed to improve the machining environment of ball screw.
