Desertification has been widely treated as one of the major environmental problems in worldwide, the estimates about the area of desertification in China are quite controversial. The half of the country in China is arid or semi-arid regions,desertification are mainly dis-tributed in Xinjiang, Gansu, Ningxia and Inner Mongolia,The largest desert in Xinjiang as a province of China, desertification has attracted increasing attention. It is mainly reflected in the most unstable regions:Oasis-desert eco-tone. That is desert vegetation zone,so the oasis-desert eco-tone should be:areas between oasis and desert, to some extent by human activities of the product, growth in the fixed, semi-fixed sandy soil,less of plant species, simple structure. A certain threshold in the reversal of environmental quality can occur is also the degradation of ecological systems and the critical zone to be restored. The stability of the ecosystem, in the corresponding sensitivity to the changes in the environment, includ-ing competition for resources, space extent of competition can be clearly demonstrated the expression of vulnerability and transition.In this paper the interaction between sandy land and spares vegetation in oasis-desert eco-tone was analyzed and based on the analysis,a mathematical model for predicting de-sertification was presented and verified using Yutian and Minfeng oasis as an example. The Runge-Kutta scheme was applied to the model. The result was fairly well. The model is simple and will be very useful in predicting and managing desertification.This work consists six sections.In section 1,this is preface.we main explain the seriousness of desertification and Oasis-desert ecotone,describe the progress of previous studies.In section 2,this is part of the study area,mainly to explain the details of the regional profiles.In section 3,we give theoretical bases of the model, model hypothesis and construct predicting model, at the end of this section give qualitative analysis. In section 4, we give model validation using Yutian Oasis as an example. In section 5,The previous findings of the study were compared. In section 6, give conclusion for the thesis.
