Acrylate copolymer emulsions are the products of acrylate or metnacrylate which reacts with other vinyl esters through emulsions polymerization.It generally with butyl acrylate (methyl acrylate,ethyl acrylate) as the main monomer,and copolymerize with methacrylate,styrene,acrylonitrile,vinyl acetate and so on.At present,copolymer emulsions of (meth)acrylate,vinyl acetate/(meth)acrylate and styrene/(meth)acrylate are the most to be used.In most cases,functional monomers and cross-linking agent will be added,including methacrylic acid and N-hydroxymethyl acrylamide.Side chain of acrylate copolymer emulsions contain esters, also have polar group including hydroxyl,amino,carboxyl and so on, this special structure makes it has light resistance,Acid-proof alkaline,corrosion resistance properties.And the types and performance of acrylate copolymer emulsions by changing the soft-hard monomer, functional monomer and crosslinking agent types.For this reason,acrylate copolymer emulsions have a great variety,including pure acrylic emulsion,styrene-acrylic emulsion,vinegar acrylic emulsion,silicon acrylic emulsion,chlorine acrylic emulsion and so on,and each has its own unique properties.Now widely used in adhesives and coating etc. At present,Manufacturers are rarely preparation of high performance of acrylate copolymer emulsions adhesives used on non-woven fabrics in our nation. We still has considerable room for development.Acrylate copolymer emulsions adhesives was synthesized by by semi-continuous, seed emulsion and preemulsification polymerization technology, analysis by FTIR,TG and SEM.In the process of polymerization,water resistance and mechanical properties are improved,when using functional monomers and cross-linking agent.After the process of polymerization,water resistance,mechanical properties and corrosion resistance properties are more improved,when using HMMM.Moreover,In the film-forming process of copolymer emulsions,the film speed,water resistance,mechanical properties are improved to some extent,when adding glycol and acid catalyst.We analyze and discuss some influencing factors,such as copolymer monomer,functional monomer,emulsifier,initiator,temperature,HMMM,glycol and acid catalyst in this paper.We made acrylate copolymer emulsions adhesives with high solid content ( above50% ) ,good water resistance,good mechanical properties( above420N/5cm ) ,drying faster,non-toxic and non-combustible by adding cross-linking agent,methacrylic acid and other copolymer monomer,which introducing carboxyl on the polymer chains,cross-linking reaction with HMMM.
