Now,welding is one of indispensable process in morden manfacturing. In order to obtaining excellent welded fabrications,higher production efficiency,safe production welding conditions,and reducing worker's labour intensity in morden welding production, We have to raising the degree of automation and intelligentization in production. Then automatic weld seam tracking is the one of key ingredients for completing welding automation. Now submerged arc weld has been one of most widespread application in the numerous welding process. But effected by many factors, it is very much difficulties for developing one technology automatic weld seam tracking that is tracing in high precision, low cost, and applicable to submerged arc weld.In the paper, on the basis of magnetic-controlled arc sensor in gas metal arc welding, and according to the discipline of the characteristic of electromagnetic influenced by main Paramater in magnetic-controlled arc sensor, in accordance with ANSYS finite element numerical analysis method. Then one magnetic-controlled arc sensor to meeting submerged arc welding is designed. Specific tasks as follows:First of all, reviewing the basic ultrasound physics, advantages and shortcomings in submerged arc welding, the status of submerged arc weld tracking system in domestic and foreign, arc type seam tracking technique submerged arc welding and magnetic arc control technology is introduced to emphasize.Followly,the discipline of magnetic field distribution affected by the excitation current, the excitation coil winding length,the magnetic core diameter,the magnetic pole degree was researched through ANSYS electromagnetic fields finite element numerical analysis method. Research result show it is stronger to the excitation current and the magnetic pole degree, but the impact of other is weak.According to the law through ANSYS electromagnetic fields finite element numerical analysis method, a new type magnetic-controlled arc sensor and the power amplifier circuit was optimal designed and made.The magnetic induction density of magnetic-controlled arc sensor developed is measured by digital Tesla equipment. The result of measurement and the result of ANSYS numerical analysis method are comparative analysed, that show the magnetic field diribution of real magnetic-controlled arc sensor is almost identical to the diribution of ANSYS numerical analysis. It proved that ANSYS electromagnetic finite element numerical calculation method can offer scientific principles for designing magnetic field generator device.According to welding test, welding current signal is collected and analyzed, so it can ascertain the performance of magnetic-controlled arc sensor.Finally, in order to expand the magnetron arc sensor applications range , the magnetic-controlled arc sensor was installed two mainstream welding machine power ,that are IGBT arc inverter silicon controlled rectifier. Many experiments showed that the sensor has good adaptability in inverter welding machine and silicon controlle rectifier arc welding machine; and it is to the benefit of appearance of weld in different welding parameters both the two welding machine power.
