In recent years, the electrostatic precipitator (ESP) is widely used in metallurgy, cement, power and other industries becouse of his characteristics such as lower energy consumptio, higher dust collection efficiency. And it gradually become the main dust collection equipment in industry. With people's demand growing, that how to improve ESP's operation, maintenance, management has become an important research direction.The monitoring system of coal ESP is designed based on CAN bus and King View. The system is applied field bus and King View which are commonly used in industrial control to monitor coal ESP. The real-time monitoring parameters are primary voltage, secondary voltage; primary current, secondary current; import/export gas concentration, import/export gas temperature; vibration frequency, silo wall vibration strength; gas flow, gas temperature; ash bucket bear pressure; material level indication. This can make ESP operate stably and efficienttly.The basic control principle of electrostatic precipitator and the CAN bus specification are analyzed. The hardware and software design of the CAN network adapter are detailly studied. On hardware, the main microcontroller and CAN controller communication module circuit is designed based on the structure and function. According to the actual needs, RS-232/485 communication module circuit is also designed to connect CAN communication module and computer. On software, two application modes PeliCAN and BasicCAN of SJA1000 are analyzed. And the CAN communication protocol designed according to the electrostatic precipitator's actual operating parameters, while the CAN application node's software design is used PeliCAN C. These implement CAN bus data transfer. Also the human-computer interface of the monitoring system is designed using King View. It can realize some functionals such as field data collection, historical and real-time data processing, process control, real-time animation, curve and report output. It has easy operation and friendly interface.The computer technology and industrial control technology are used in electrostatic precipitator's operation, maintenance and management in this system design. And it realize centralized monitoring of a few electrostatic precipitators, which increases the level of maintenance and management.
