| Glass fiber reinforced composite is a kind of advanced engineering materials in urgent need due to its high strength and stiffness, good thermal stability, and the advantage of processing performance and cost. Studying the preparation method for glass fiber reinforced composite, which can promote the application of reinforced plastic in engineering and develop the method of modification, has important theoretical and engineering value.There are a some issues in the glass fiber reinforced PC system, such as lack of toughness and flame retardancy below V-0level of UL94standard. For these problems, the effect of glass fiber, toughening agent and flame retardant on mechanical, flow, thermal properties of reinforced PC system was analyzed in this paper.The flame-resistant reinforced PC composite with excellent comprehensive performances was obtained,based on tne above research. And the PP resin is lack of stiffness and toughness, so the effect of glass fiber, nucleating agent and toughening agent on mechanical, flow, thermal properties of reinforced PP system was researched. Finally, taking glass fiber reinforced PC system as example, the effect of extrusion condition on the capability is studied, which obtains theoretical and practical experience for the development and production of new materials.The glass fiber reinforced PC system is prepared by the melt blending method in a co-rotating twin serew extrude. The effect of composition, variou plastie additives such as toughening agent, flame retardant and silicone powder on mechanical, flow, thermal properties of reinforced PC system are studyed. It is indieated that the strength, stiffness and heat deflection temperature (HDT) of reinforcer all increase rapidly, but the toughness of blends decrease with the inerease of glass fiber content. Toughening effect of organosilicone toughner is the best of four toughner including MBS, EMA, SMA and organosilicone toughner. The reduction of SMA on strength and stiffness is not evident. Lubricant of silicone powder can improve toughness andmobility in processing of the reinforced PC system. The flame retardant modification of glass fiber reinforced PC system is researched under three flame retardant system of organosilicon sulfonate (RT-200N), organic phosphate flame retardant TPP and TPP+RDP. The test results complianced with UL94standard show that retardant effectiveness of RT-200N is the best.The predominant flame retardant mechanism of RDP is condensed phase, and TPP plays the role of flame retardance mainly in gas phase. So the retardant effectiveness of RDP/TPP composite stabilizer is more excellent than the effect of TPP alone. The organic phosphate flame retardants reduce rapidly the mechanical properties and HDT of the reinforced material. Besides the comprehensive properties of silicone sulfonate flame retardant system is better than the properties organic phosphate flame retardant system.It is researched that PP is modified with adding two a nucleating agents of organic phosphate nucleating agent NA-40and carboxylate nucleating agent NA-9930T.The results show that both of nucleating agents can significantly improve crystallinity and crystallization temperature of PP.The strength, stiffness and heat distortion temperature of PP is increased more significantly by adding NA-40. What’s more, the effect of NA-9930T on flexural modulus is better, and toughness can remain stable.The effect of glass content, acid anhydride compatibilizer and toughener on performances of glass fiber reinforced PP system is discussed. The results show that glass fiber can significantly improve the mechanical properties of PP, such as stiffness and strength, and can overcome the defects of low heat distortion temperature and high molding shrinkage. There are striking differences of polarity between glass fiber and PP. PP-g-MAH can significantly improve the compatibility between them to obtain excellent comprehensive performances. PP copolymer is compounded with elastomer POE to obtain excellent toughness and make strength of the system remain stable.On the basis of the prerequisite studies, the flame-retardan glass fiber reinforced PC and glass fiber reinforced PP with high rigidity and high toughness are developed to meet the performance requirements of home appliances. Both of the materials are approved with relevant engineering tests.Taking the extrusion process with glass fiber reinforced PC for example, the effect of addition way of glass fiber, screw configuration and screw speed on the material properties of reinforced PC system are researched. The results show that adding fiber with a separate feeder, suitable screw configuration and matching screw speed can obtain excellent comprehensive performances. This provides references for developing new materials in the future. |
