Poyang Lake is China's largest freshwater lake, has been called "the last pot of clear water" of Yangtze River. But with the development of Jiangxi Province, under the pressures of population, economy and resources, water environment in Poyang Lake is deteriorating, which is not conductive to the sustainable development of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone. The construction of water environment monitoring information sharing system is helpful for the government and the public to learn the water environment condition,thereby implement the information and modernization of Poyang Lake.Computer network technology, database technology and the development of WebGIS technology provide the possibility of Poyang Lake water environment information sharing. Especially the WebGIS technology, which is the integration of Web and GIS, change the single operation mode of traditional GIS. Relying on WebGIS, geospatial data can be published and used. WebGIS provide users browse, search and analysis function, and it is a good platform for Poyang Lake water environment information sharing.This paper mainly studied problems of Poyang Lake water environment monitoring information sharing. Details are as follows:(1)This paper analyzed both quantity and quality status of Poyang Lake water environment, expounded the significance of water environment information sharing, and summarized the technology and application progress relevant to this paper in two aspects of spatial information sharing and water environment information sharing. And then this paper introduced its research content and purpose.(2)According to the area's characteristics of much cloudy and rainy weather, using EnviSAT ASAR data and which can penetrate the fog and cloud, extracted the water coverage area by the block threshold, and then verified the effectiveness of extracting results.(3)This paper discussed several ways of realizing spatial information sharing. According to the demand of water coverage information, take advantage of GeoGlobe, completed the extracted results release and realized sharing of extracted results. Therefore, Internet users can browse and query Poyang Lake water quantity information online. (4)In order to satisfy users'further meet of water quality information's online analysis and visualization, this paper designed the Poyang Lake water ecological safety information online monitoring and warning system in the ArcGIS Server platform. This paper introduced the system construction principle, contents, and realized data management module, model management module, visualization module and system management module. According to users' personalized demands, system can generate and publish water ecological safety information online. To a certain extent, the system can realize the Poyang Lake water environment monitoring data and the model sharing.
