The Study On Covering Agent And Refining Agent Of Copper

Experiments and detection analysis of metallurgical defects in thin-walled copper tubes show that the casting process is the most key link to cause metallurgical defect in thin-walled copper tubes during metallurgy production. Therefore, to aim at the new covering agent and composite refining agent, the preliminary technical exploration and research are carried out in this paper. By using the process of de-oxidation, degassing, and cleaning to control the metallurgical defects effectively, the melt treatment of copper can be strengthened and the quality of the melt can be controlled, and finally production quality and productivity of copper are improved.Studies show that the best formulation of new covering agent is that F1 reagent content of 7.5 wt.%, C1 reagent content of 10 wt.%, Graphite content of 5 wt.%, and Cryolite content of 77.5 wt.%. And the new covering agent has a strong cover effect. The principle of new covering agent is that, with the help of surface tension, the molten flux forms a continuous layer and fully covers the molten surface, and excludes air and water vapor and prevents melt oxidation and breathing. The new covering agent has a good wetting and adsorption capacity and removes impurities along with the flux using the density difference between flux and metal melt.The best formulation of new composite refining agent is that A content of 10 wt.%, B content of 2.5 wt.%, C content of 2.5 wt.%, D content of 4 wt.%, E content of 46 wt.%, F content of 35 wt.%. And the new composite refining agent has strong refining effect. The principle of new composite refining agent is that, by the action of the distribution law, gravity and bubble flotation, the composite refining agent can adsorb and combine the molten slag. The addition of new composite refining agent can purify melt, improve the electrical conductivity, harden of the ingot and reduce the oxygen content of the ingot.
