Particulate matter(PM10) is the main pollutant to affect our urban air quality, because of its larger volume and surface area, not only affects atmospheric visibility, generates atmospheric photochemical smog, intensifies the greenhouse effect but also endanger human health, improve morbidity and mortality. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are ubiquitous environmental pollutants with carcinogenic and mutagenic activities. PAHs are formed primarily during incomplete combustion of organic matter, such as fossil fuels (coal and oil), biomass, tobacco, plastic, etc. The majority of PAHs with serious carcinogen is the heavy one that are mainly sorbed on fine inhalable particles with a high concentration on airborne particles of sub-micron diameters, which can be deposited in the respiratory tract, hence increasing the potential health effects. Therefore, it has received a considerable research interest.Huainan city is an energy city collected coal, electricity and chemistry. It was a typical example of energy industrial city by which developing and using the coal as prop, it was developing fire power three gorges project, and the study of PAHs in PM10 hasn't been undertaked extensively. In order to understand the space-time change law and the pollution characteristics of PM10 and PAHs in PM10, on the basis of sampling and observations, it uses weight method to calculate the PM10 mass concentration, discusses the temporal and spatial variation characteristics and its relationship with the weather conditions of Huainan city. Using microwave extraction methoed to disposal the membrane samplings, and then using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) anaysis and testing. Evaluate initially the pollutant character of Inhalable Particles and PAHs. Try to find out the origin and influence of Inhalable Particles and PAHs. Raise the countermeasures and suggestions which are related to the control of PAHs pollution.
