Dyeing wood is a method of wood modification based on the natural grain of wood with the chemical agent. Nowadays people would like to use deep color wood to make the furniture, but with the sharp output of precious wood, people except the poplar. So use the plantation wood to make furniture by dyeing is an effective way to solve this problem. Lightfastness is an important factor of dyeing wood s working life. Improving the lightfastness of dyeing wood is significance in many aspects, such as planted wood s development and the research of wood modification.This paper discusses how to improve the lightfastness of dyed poplar veneer through four parts of research which involve the process of 15 kinds pretreatments, the lightfastness of 9 dyestuffs, the application of 3 kinds lightfast addition agents, the process of 29 kinds wood dyeing.At last, use the FTIR to observe the chemical functional group of dyeing wood. Results as follows are obtained.This experiment takes poplar veneer as material and the acid dyestuff as dyestuff.2% NaOH solution pretreatment gets the best lightfastness in the 15 pretreatment trials. The Analysis of Variance used Design Expert7.1 said that the time of hot water pretreatment is significance to the lightfastness of poplar veneer,in other way,the concentration and the time of NaOH solution are not important to the lightfastness.Use C.I. Acid Red 73.C.I. Acid Yellow 11,C.I. Acid blue 93,Reactive Red F-3B,C.I. Reactive Yellow 3,C.I. Reactive Blue 21,C.I. Direct Red 23,C.I. Direct Yellow 12, C.I. Direct Blue 71 these dyestuff to dye poplar veneer. After 100h ultraviolet light get the△Eab separately: 2.2,6.8,4.4,6.6,5.4,8.6,5.8,5.1,6.8.So the acid dyestuff has the best lightfastness, especially the C.I. Acid Yellowll.Use the Nitrogen Compound,Macrogol 400,BTA to be added in the dye liquor respectively,finds the△Eab of poplar veneer after 100h ultraviolet light:5.4,2.1,3.6.The best of lightfastness is the Macrogol 400.Take usage of Design Expert 7.1 software to do research on the lightfastness of 29 kinds dye processes. Found from ANOVA:the temperature and concentration (2FI) are significant to the lightfastness of poplar veneer. In addition, the best dye process parameters is:87.70℃, 1.22%,4.12h, pH=9.11 stand for temperature, concentration,time,pH.The structure of the dyed poplar veneer was studied by FTIR. Found from the chemical groups and the FTIR spectra feature, in the process of dyeing poplar with C.I. Reactive blue 21, ether bond resulted from the reaction of hydroxyl bond and reactive bond belong C.I. Reactive blue 21.Beside that,the hydrogen bond bring in and the Van der Waals force from the molecular structure of dyestuff and wood.
