Non-equilibrium plasma combustion enhancement is an application of gas discharge in which nonburning gas or combustible mixture or flame pass through a discharge unit, using the non-equilibrium plasma generated by discharge to accelerate the chemical kinetics of combustion, thereby improving fuel ignition performance and speed and stability of combustion, is a new application of DBD,has a potential application prospect in supersonic flows and low-speed gas flows. The research of this aspect has reported in recent years. The mechanism is still at the stage of experimental exploration. Therefore, study of the effect of DBD combustion enhancement has a guidance and reference value. In this paper, a coaxial cylindrical configuration was employed to study the influence of DBD on the methane combustion. The methane or methane/air mixture was activated by the non-equilibrium plasma genereted by DBD, the properties of dielectric barrier discharge are studied, and the sptical emission of DBD was measured by spectrometer.?The?results show that CH and H were generated in the discharge area, and N2 has a effect on the spectrum of CH.The methane and methane/air mixture was burning after discharge with air.?The?effect?of?DBD?on spectra and structure of flame was studied.?According to the experimental results, we think: CH, H may a reason which caused the change of methane combustion flame. Simulation about the effect of CH, H on methane combustion was taked by Fluent.Simulations results show that CH, H can lead the concentration of OH increasing in flames, and appear the flashback phenomenon. This trend is consistent with experimental study. The experiment and simulation results show that CH and H can enhance methane combustion.
