It is of great interest recently in combustion enhancement using dielectric barrier discharges (DBD). The chemical activity of plasmas, generated in the process of discharging in gaseous fuel or fuel/air mixtures, has an effect on the chemical equilibrium of combustion system so as to improve the ignitability of the fuel, the velocity of combustion and the stability of combustion. In this paper , a coaxial cylindrical configuration was employed to study the influence of DBD on the methane combustion. Methane gas flows out from discharge zone, mixes with air in the mixing zone and finally combusts in the open air. The dependent of combustion properties of methane on the voltage magnitudes and frequencies of power supply is studied. The article devotes mainly on:Design and set up electrical experiment equipment, the equipment is made up of electric chamble,burner,gas-feed part, high voltage power source and test instrument part;We treat the methane with DBD in varities of frequencies and voltages, then observe the figure of flame,we study the fluence on flame by frequency and voltage; Then we analyse the combustion enhancement effect of electric,we find that DBD can affect chemical reaction, ignition limit and flame progration velocity; Then we study the fluence of electric field intensity on flame,we find that it does work;We report the spectra of the flame without discharge and with discharge. We find that the emission intensity can improve when discharge and some C2 production appear.
