Ultrasonication is an emerging and very effective mechanical pretreatment method to enhance the biodegradability of the sludge and speed of hydrolyzation, and it would be very useful to sewage sludge anaerobic digestion. makes use of ultrasonic probe (28kHz) to disintegrated the sludge. The effect of ultrasonic density , the processing time, accessorial aeration and the flow of the sludge on sludge disintegration was evaluated in this article. The ultrasonic sludge is anaerobic digest by batches experiments or semi-continuous experiments at different HRTs to evaluate the adaptability of anaerobic digestion of sludge after ultrasonication .It has been found that applying ultrasonic to disintegrate sludge is an effective method. After being disintegrated, the SCOD, SP, SD in the sludge supernatant is increased greatly. Their concentrations enhanced with the augment of sonication density, and processing time. Under a certain ultrasonic density, the increment of SCOD, SP, SD are enhanced lineally with the extending of time. In this experiment, the reaction of ultrasonic sludge disintegration follows the first order kinetics. The orderliness for disintegration of protein and amylose has tiny different. Applying with the aeration and altering the flow of the sludge were helpful in ultrasonic pretreatment in certain range. The optimum parameters for ultrasonic sludge anaerobic digestion was concluded that is sonication density 24W/ml, the processing time 2min, and that was the suitable degree of disintegration for protein index. ultrasonic sludge at 10 days retention time, the biogas production improved by 41.2% and the methane content improved by 18.2% when compared with the untreated sample.WAS has lots of different properties for many reasons, but ultrasonication suit for sludge pretreatment widely. The sludge which will anaerobic digested should through sedimentation before ultrasonic. The digested sonicated sludge has batter settling capacity but worse dewatering characteristics than that of traditional digested sludge.
