Mineral lubricants belongs to a branch of the Petrochemical industry, although consumption accounts for only 2% - 3% of the amount of fuel oil, its application takes up extremely extensive fields , so its breed brand has most categories among petroleum products. At present all lubricating oil product consists of base oil and additives, with base oil more than 70 percent to nearly 100 percent. Additives takes up several millionth to thirty to forty percent. As for base oil, there is mineral oil, molding synthetic oils and biological base oil, but great majority is mineral oil.In the process of lubricating oil production, both variety and concentration of chemical impurities can generate deeply impact on product's quality and equipment's safe operation. Especially some impurities can not only result in device corrosion ,but also lead to waste of material and all kinds of incidents which do harm to human lives and wealth security. And quality ,safe usage and lifetime of lubricating oil can also be impacted by the impurities. This page directs at affect of impurities on lubricatng oil, seeking samples from critical section of workmanship. By research suitable analytical tools are determined, indicator titration, high performance liquid chromatography, ion chromatography and gas chromatography are respectively for acid value, furural acid, chloride ion and water. Base on results obtained, some suggestion is given. Main study and conclusions include as follows:(1) Titration is adopted for detecting of acid value, and high performance liquid chromatography for that of furfural acid. It shows that acid value of all samples doesn't exceed 0.5, and these acids are not so plentyful to cause equipment's corrosion. Content of furfural acid is high, which illustrates that furfural solvent is high oxidised.(2) Gas chromatography is for water content detection. Water content of all samples is little, the reproducity is good. Refind oil contain little water and can be used for base oil.(3) Ion chromatography is adopted for chloride ion detection, which is easy to handle. Content of chloride ion obtained is 1~4 mg/L. Critical concentration of chloride of armoured concrete system used for reference, chloride ion concentration is thousand times of critical concentration, which may lead to severe corrosion. Among all samples, materials from dewaxing segment has most chloride. It is suggested that chloride be taken from crude oil before usage.
