The comprehensive utilization of resources is a major technological and economic policyof China. The development of utilizing Dwarf bamboo to form high efficiency and high valueindustry, to change high bamboo-consuming manufacture mode at present is very important forsustainable development of bamboo industry.In this paper, Dwarf bamboo and its manufacture residues was used as research object;phenol and polyethylene glycol-400was used as compound liquefacient. Under single factorcondition and liquid solid ratio at1.2, catalytic agent, liquefying temperature, liquefying timewas analyzed to study their effects on bamboo liquefaction. The results indicated thatliquefaction rate was relatively high under the following conditions:25%catalytic agent,liquefying temperature at130℃and liquefying time50min. The liquefied products andliquefied residues were also analyzed by FTIR, which manifested lignin, cellulose andhemicellulose all degraded in different degrees and produced many small molecules. It alsomanifested adding two liquefaction reagents would create two different liquefaction reaction..The liquefied products and formaldehyde was used for resin reaction. The alkali amount,formaldehyde amount and reaction time were analyzed to study their effects on the viscosity ofresin under single factor condition. The results showed the resin viscosity was relatively properand reached the requirement of foaming under the following conditions: sodiumhydroxide/(bamboo powder+phenol) at mole ratio0.5, formaldehyde/(bamboo powder+phenol) at mole ratio1.1, react temperature90℃and react time60min.Bamboo-liquefied resin was used as foaming material to study the effects of surface activeagents, curing agent and foaming agent on the density and mass of the foam. Through observingthe microstructure of foam with electron microscope, pentane was verified as a relatively idealfoaming agent, and the foaming technology was relatively good under the following conditions:filling materials at5%, curing agent1at18%, foaming agent at12%and isocyanate at40%.The fire retardant ability of foam was preliminarily studied. The oxygen index of foammaterials from adding different fire retardant agent was obtained. The results showed the indexof foam material from phenol alcohol resin was41without adding fire retardant agent, Addingmelamine as fire retardant agent could help to improve the oxygen index of the foam and theindex reached44when this agent dose was at15%.
