Nowadays, much attention has been paid to Tailor-Welded Blanks (TWBs) technologywhich is a key lightweight factor in automotive industry. Moreover, in academic and engineeringfield much attention has been paid to the shape and size of blank unfolding, which is a key factorfor affecting the quality of TWBs forming. Reasonable blank shape and size can improve theflow properties of the sheet, thus improving the quality of TWBs forming. Therefore,determining the blank size and shape of TWBs is particularly important in analysis of blanksformability. By means of theories and methods in the finite element analysis, structuraloptimization, blank unfolding and curve fitting. Based on TWBs formability; blank unfoldingand programming method are systematically studied in this thesis.The contributions may besummarized as follows.(1) A structure optimization design program has been proposed using a car outdoor example.By means of finite element analysis and structure optimization theory to analysis TWBsformability. Based on the distribution of stress and strain to divide TWBs area, and ultimatelydetermine the distribution of the sub-board material and thickness.(2) TWBs blank unfolding algorithm is implemented using MATLAB code, and theDYNAFORM software is used to simulate the blank stamping process so as to verify theformability of TWBs according to the forming limit diagram.(3) According to available data information, TWBs welding seam and the blank outlinecurve fitting program is written based on the least square principle. The regression equation isobtained to prepare for subsequent cutting process.The work in this thesis has an important theoretical significance and engineering applicationvalue for shorting TWBs production'cycle, improving product quality and achieving energysaving.
