Recently, natural disasters happened frequently in the world nowadays, both in the east coast of Japan, earthquake and accompanying tsunami and nuclear leaks, and Wenchuan earthquake have brought heavy casualties and huge economic losses, and its significant impact worthy of further discussion and study. Firstly, this paper defined what natural disaster is, content and study object of disaster statistics, and how it grading, principles, classification; Based on the theory of statistics and the classification of disaster statistics, we focus on assessment of indirect economic losses.Secondly, the paper summarized and compared commonly study of domestic and foreign experts in indirect economic loss assessment methods, including the Production Function model, Input-Output models, Social Accounting Matrix model, Computable General Equilibrium model and other models. Social Accounting Matrix also need to prepare the customs, finance, financial and other data, according to statistics status in Sichuan, we still can not apply Social Accounting Matrix model and Computable General Equilibrium model in practice. Based on the data what we can get, we focus on the production function model, the direct consumption coefficient method and direct distribution coefficient method. This paper used these methods to calculate the indirect economic losses of Sichuan Province in Wenchuan earthquake. At the same time, we produced a new Input-output table in Sichuan Province for calculating more accurate indirect economic losses of Sichuan Province.According to the results and combined with the actual situation in Sichuan Province, this paper pointed out that the distribution coefficient method is more suitable for Wenchuan earthquake assessment of indirect economic losses.
