In this thesis, large scale ZnO microflowers, nanorods and nanoflowers were prepared via a hydrothermal method and characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, PL and CL. Growth mechanism of several as-obtained ZnO nanostructures were proposed, and effect of several growth parameters on the as-synthesized products were discussed.ZnO microflowers were prepared by simple hydrothermal method. The as-synthesized zinc oxide nanostructure owns the hexagonal wurtzite structure, and the product is high purity according to the result of TEM and XRD. The optimal growth conditions to synthesize the nanostructures were investigated by adjusting the reaction time, temperature, alkali, etc.Synthesis of pencil-like nanorod structures were synthesized on the zinc substrate, the surface of the as-synthesized product is smooth. The reaction temperature, reaction time, alkali, etc. were optimized. PL specturm shows that the products have good crystallization.Cotton ball-like nanoflowers were synthesized on the zinc substrate, the surface is rough. Effect of the reaction temperation, reaction time, etc.on the morphologies of the as-synthesized products were investigated. The PL test shows the products have an excellent optical property.
