In recent years, with the development of construction, renovation and timber processing industries need to supply large quantities of wood, which has provided a higher requirement for the efficiency of the entire timber production, supply chain, especially the accurate measurement of wood as domestic and international researchhot spots. In this paper, considering the accurate measurement of lumber volume of the parallel links in the entire wood processing, it proposed new methods of the automated measuring for lumber volume of the parallel links and the structures of detection system. Through the measurement system it can objectively reflect the whole side of the parallel volume of sawn timber, ensure fairness between wood suppliers and processed parties, and improve the utilization of timber, which will bring good economic returns for the timber processing enterprises.This text takes modern sensor technology, optical technology and computer technology for the research of new methods of automatically measured of the entire parallel side of timber volume and structures of inspection system. It describes the basic principles of measurement of the whole parallel side of timber volume, and propose the design of the system which automatically meters the whole parallel side of timber. Additionally, it also focuses on the parameters acquisition and signal processing in the detection system, and conducts the system software design and error analysis.The programs and methods used for the institute of Automatic Metrology System for the whole side of the parallel timber is feasible to solve the error caused by factors such as manual measurement. It provides a theoretical basis and experiences for wood processing industry to achieve automatic detection, and promote the development of wood processing industry, with great theoretical and practical significance.
