Simulation of the forming process and Optimization of the process parameters fornext generation evaporator for vehicle air-condition (side plate for parallel flowevaporator) based on DYNAFORM are done in this paper.The forming process of side plate is very complicated. The reasonable selection ofthe size and profile of first blank can not only save raw materials but also can improve theforming performance. The size and profile of first blank for the parallel flow evaporatorside plate is evaluated and optimized based on DYNAFORM/BSE. The reasonable sizeand profile of first blank is obtained. It is a very good method to solve the difficultproblem of blank size determination by the conventional means for complex drawingparts.Crack is the main forming process defect for parallel flow evaporator side plate.According to the plastic mechanical theory and the deformation characteristic of thedrawing forming of cylinder, the stress strain state and defects which are arisen in thedrawing process are discussed in order to acquire the position of crack.The drawing process of side plate is simulated with DYNAFORM to solve the crackdefect. According to the principle of the same neutral layer section, the processparameters of the all drawing process are obtained by means of optimizing distancebetween two punchs, the punch radius size and die radius size. And the parameters areinput by DYNAFORM to simulate the forming process. The results show that the defectswhich might be arisen in the forming process be solved.The progressive die of the evaporator side plate is designed and manufacturedaccording to the simulation results. The die structure which consist of four sub-dies(cutting sub-die, prestretching sub-die, dressing sub-die and punching-trimming-bendingsub-die and so on) include fourteen processes. The die is put into production. The qualityof products reach the required technical requirements, the efficiency is improved.The study in this paper has a certain guiding role in the forming process of thecomplicated drawing parts.
