Laser repair technology is the modern advanced manufacture technology developed from the laser cladding technology in the late 1980s, which uses high-energy laser beam as the heat source and forms local melting pool on the surface of parts, while the metal alloy powder is delieved into the pool synchronously to form metallurgical bonding of metal cladding layer, imparting parts with high temperature, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and anti-fatigue properties. This technique combines laser technology, materials science, CNC machining, CAD / CAM technology, optical detection technology, structure design, optimization design and system simulation and other related key technologies, is a novel and multidiscipline advanced manufacture technology integrated with optics, mechanics, electrics, computer, automation and materials. Its emergence brought about new ideas to the refabrication of mechanical & electrical equipments, could solve many difficult problems which couldn't be solved by the traditional remanufacturing technology, accelerated and promoted the development of the remanufacturing industry greatly, had large potential application prospects and resulted in enormous economic, social and environmental benefits.At present, research of the domestic and foreign laser repair technology for titanium alloy is still in its infancy, no systematic study had been conducted, there are still many key technologies require in-depth and meticulous research. This paper systematically studied the laser repair technology for titanium alloy, the implementation route and solution to the key technologies were given based on the analysis of the knowledge points and theoretical study of all the key technologies. Therefore, the theoretical basis and technical support of the laser repair technology for experiments and industry application were presented .
