Phthalocyanine compounds have good photochemical, photophysical and electronic characteristics. They are versatile organic compounds, and can be used for the functional nanostructures, which are applied in the new molecular devices. The first step of making devices is to control the molecular functional nanostructures, which are the centre of the molecular devices, too. Therefore, it is a very important to observe the molecular configuration by using Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM) and to study the structure of single molecular layer on several solids for the phthalocyanine compounds. In this thesis, six phthalocyanine compounds were synthesized,α(β)-tetra(4-carboxy- phenoxy)phthalocyanine (4a, 4b),α(β)-tetra(4-carboxyphenoxy)phthalocyanine zine(Ⅱ) (5a, 5b), 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24-octa(4-carboxyphenoxy)- phthalocyanine (4c), 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24-octa(4-carboxyphenoxy)phthalocyanine zine(Ⅱ) (5c), by using through 1,8-diazabicyclo- [5, 4, 0]undec-7(DBU) as catalysis in liquid phase. These compounds had been characterized by ultraviolet spectrum, infrared spectrum and MALDI time of flight mass spectrum. The electronic absorption spectra of the phthalocyanine compounds were studied in tetrahydrofuran (THF), and the influence factors were discussed, such as the number and positions of substitutes, central metal, on the maximum absorption wavelengths of the Q-band.Two phthalocyanine compounds, two isomeric moleculars:α(β)-tetra(4-carboxylphenoxy)- phthalocyanine (4a, 4b), were used to study its self-assemble behavior on surface by STM, and their self-assemble structures have successfully been obtained at sub-molecular level. The results will provide the new ideas on how to construct two-dimensional nanostructure and design new nano-device.
