In this paper, first the renewable natural cotton fiber with hollow structure was used as raw material to weave honeycomb fabric with different repetition. Then in order to study the influence of honeycomb structure to the sound insulation of the composites, the honeycomb fabric/PVC composites sound insulating material was made with the honeycomb fabric as reinforcement material and particle modified polyvinyl chloride as matrix. The purpose of this paper is to increase the sound insulation of the composites by changing the fabric structure while keeping the surface density and fiber content unchanged, which can be theoretically helpful to the preparation of composites with high property.First of all, the honeycomb fabrics with different repetition were produced with 58.31 tex *2 cotton yarn as Warp and Weft and the mechanical property, air permeability, and sound insulation performance of the fabrics were tested. It was shown that with the density approximately the same, weave repetition of fabrics had significant influence on breaking tenacity, breaking elongation and sound insulation of honeycomb fabrics and with the increasing of repetition, sound insulation of fabrics decreased significantly. On the basis of this, HNTs modified PVC with low price but favorable dispersion performance was used as matrix to study different content of HNTs on PVC mechanical, damping and sound insulating performance. The results was that when HNTs is 8wt%, this composite materials had better mechanical, damping property and improved sound insulating performance.Secondly, honeycomb fabric/PVC composite materials were made with honeycomb fabric of different repetition as reinforcement material and HNTs modified PVC as matrix to study effect of repetition on sound insulating performance of honeycomb fabric/PVC composites. It was shown that the weave repetition had great influence on the composites material sound insulation. If coated two-side, when R was 6, the sound insulation of composite materials was the best. If casted front side, the more the weave repetition was, the better the effect of sound insulation was. While the fabric was casted back side, repetition of weave in middle and low frequency had little effect on sound insulation and when the fabric was coated two-side, repetition of weave had little effect on composite material.Thirdly, composite materials with sandwich structure were made with honeycomb fabric/PVC composites as core to study the influence of weave repetition on sound insulation property of composite materials. It was shown that When R=6, good sound insulation in low frequency, while in R=14, the composite structure displayed good insulation property in high frequencyFinally, two composite materials whose R=6 and R=14 were laminated to study the influence of arrangement form on sound insulating performance. It was shown that the arrangement form had great influence on sound insulating performance of two-layer-composite structure and the performance of two-layer-frontage structure surpassed that of other arrangement form.
