At present, the attention which paid to the exploitation of the coalbed methane by our government is on the increase, and the exploitation is developing rapidly. As its collection and transmission method is very complex, breakdown is inevitable in the process of gathering and transferring. With 1he increase of coalbed methane production Wells, the sop work will spent plenty of time on troubleshooting when the system fails. If the breakdown cannot be overcame in time, the system operation of the whole coal gas fields will be affected, more serious is that this may led to the damage of equipment and system paralysis. Therefore, in this paper expert system is designed in order to rapidly and effectively diagnoses the fault in the process of gathering and transferring.In this paper, the theory and development methodology of expert system is studied, and then design fault diagnosis expert system of coal-bed methane gathering process. The chosen Design Scheme is as follows:firstly, develop knowledge base and inference engine by the use of CLIPS—the expert system development tool; Then, compile expert man-machine of system by the use of VC++; moreover, embed the CLIPS to VC++, and then achieve the function of the expert system.This Papers analyzed the process of gathering and transferring coalbed methane; then arrange and summarize the fault information of each technological process on the base of research on the wellhead technique, set air valve process, gas gathering station technique and water treatment process; finally, establish the characteristic value table of fault information in the gathering and transferring process.This paper divide the fault of gathering process into several modules based on the coalbed methane fields gathering process, the design of expert system is based on fault tree analysis, and use "frame+production rules" knowledge expression to describe the fault knowledge of system knowledge base; this paper proposed the use of inference method of hybrid reasoning and control strategy which combined breadth-first search and depth-first search to design inference machine of expert system. Analyze the fault tree of gathering and transportation process layer-by-layer according to detected fault information, thereby realizing the diagnosis of obtained failure symptom. Finally, elaborate the embedded way of mixed programming with CLIPS and VC++in details. Test the expert system according to the simulation data of coalbed methane and got a perfectible result, which verified the feasibility of the method.
