| This paper was supported by the National Natural Science Fund for innovative research groups science foundation(approval number:50921001), the Canadian study special award of Canadian government (2009) and technology development projects(C/KJFETCY001-2009) of China National Offshore Oil Corporation.This paper investigated the applicability of multifunction oil skimmer, vacuum oil skimmer, rope oil skimmer and oil absorbent felt in Bohai Sea in winter. The experiment tested multifunction oil skimmer, rope oil skimmer and vacuum oil skimmer in ice covered water and water without any ice in low-temperature condition with Boxi crude oil and -35# diesel. The experiment tested oil adsorption capacity of four kinds of oil absorbent felt in different temperatures with Boxi, Chengbei and Suizhong crude oil producted in Bohai Sea. The experiment also tested the solidification point of these crude oil and the kinematic viscosity of their mixture with -35# diesel and got the kinematic viscosity of these crude oil.The test result showed that mechanical recovery technology was restricted in low-temperature surroundings in Bohai Sea in winter. The physical condition of oil spill depends the effect of oil recovery. Many oil skimmers can do nothing with solid crude oil or ropiness crude oil. Adsorptivity of oil absorbent felt would reduce in low-temperature conditions. Also, oil absorbent felt can't recover crude oil on the ice in the sea. It shows that temperature is the primary factor in oil spill recovery. Low-temperature could make crude oil to be much ropier and turn crude oil with high solidification point to be solid state. Secondly, ice condition could increase the difficulty in oil spill recovery. Towards some crude oil with low viscosity and low solidification point, it could reduce the oil recovery velocity. Now oil spill recovery equipment of our country can't deal with oil spill in Bohai Sea in winter. So, it needs more research in this field. |
