Chapter 1:The problems of food and plastic food packages safety, the factors caused these problems, and the regulations related to Plastic Food Packaging Materials in different countries, as well as the advances in this field have been reviewed, on the basis of these reviews, our own research content and the creativity were put forward.Chapter 2:A rapid method of extracting antioxidants (BHA, BHT, BPA, Ionox100, AO425, Irganox1010, Irganox1076), ultraviolet absorbents (UV-0, UV-9, UV-P, UV-24, UV-234, UV-326, UV-327, UV-531) and fire retardants (Hexabromobiphenyl, Decabromodiphenyl oxide) from PE film with acetonitrile by ultrasonic extraction (USE) and determined by ultra performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) coupled with photodiode array (PDA) detector has been developed. Different extraction solvents were compared, the best extraction solvent and the least volume has been confirmed. On the basis of the optimized gradient elution and confirmed solution for determination.Chapter 3:A method of determining Titanium (Ti), Lead (Pb), Chromium (Cr), Cadmium (Cd) in PE film for food packaging by microwave digestion and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) has been developed. Different digestion acid mixtures, digestion temperature and time were investigated. The best ICP-AES operating condition has been confirmed. The procedure developed has been applied to determination of the metal elements in three commercial plastic food packages.Chapter 4:A confirmatory and sensitive method of microwave digestion coupled with inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) or inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) determination for silver (Ag) in nano-PE plastic food packaging has been developed. The limit of detection, accuracy and precision of the two analytical methods were compared, matrix effect was evaluated. The procedure developed has been applied to determination of the Ag in commercial nano-plastic food packages.Chapter 5:A method of extracting Ag from two food simulants (3%(w/v) aqueous acetic and 95%(v/v) aqueous ethanol) by evaporating and determining by ICP-MS has been developed. The procedure developed has been applied to determine the migration of Ag from nano-PE plastic food package into the two food simulants under different temperatures and times.
