Under the background of the rapid progress of China's textile industry, China's textile machinery has risen sharply. After years of development, a relatively complete industry chain has been formed. As the clothing industry progresses rapidly and the national consumption improves, the weaving industry has encountered great opportunities. And it has been more and more urgent to develop high-performance rapier looms.Compared with foreign rapier looms, domestic ones are lower in technological level, automaticity and production efficiency, also worse in creativity, reliability and stability. Plenty of high and new technologies are introduced from abroad, and those introduced technologies can not reach the international leading level. So the domestic looms have no competive advantages in international market among the same type of looms, which has restricted the progress of China's weaving industry severely. In this paper, the design method of rapier loom has been studied, with the aim of shortening the research period of rapier loom, which will make great significance for the development of China's rapier looms.In this paper, the beating-up and weft insertion mechanism with conjugate cam of rapier loom is regarded as the research object. The modeling, reverse design, analog simulation and test analysis have been conducted, also the parametric design model has been established, which lays foundation for the serial design of products. The main research content and results are as follows.1) According to the technological requirements of beating-up and weft insertion, novel kinematic curves of beating-up and weft insertion mechanism have been proposed, the reverse design model has been established, the discrete type of profile of the conjugate cam has been solved, and universal simulative software of beating-up and weft insertion mechanism with conjugate cam has been compiled.2) Fitting model of NURBS curve with least square method has been established. The convexity-preserving and fairness characteristics of the profile have been ensured by conducting fitting calculation of discrete type of profile of conjugate cam.3) Aiming at the defects of designing theory of original beating-up and weft insertion mechanisms, VB.NET software platform has been used in this paper. Also the secondary development of UG has been carried out to fulfill parametric design, which has shortened the time of secondary design and checking of beating-up and weft insertion mechanism, finally increased efficiency of production design.4) The test-bed of beating-up and weft insertion mechanism with conjugate cam has been developed. And the reliability of the established kinematic model has been proved based on the test-bed, high-speed camera and video analysis.
