Pigment dyeing and printing of textiles becomes more and more important due to high requirements of environmental protection. Binder is one of the most important auxiliaries in the textile printing. It determines the hand, colour and fastness of products. But it is easy to plug the screen and stick to the rollers. In order to solve these problems, we prepared two kinds of pigment dispersions, in-situ polymerizabledispersion can blended pigment dispersion. In order to test the properties of different kinds of pigment dispersions, we changed the ratio of the two monomers, the density of the initiator, ultrasonic time, the ratio of the pigment and monomers, the density of dispersion and the pigment to prepare pigment dispersions. And we tested the average particle size, viscosity and centrifugation stability(the ratio of the absorbance). Then we dyed cotton fabrics by pad dyeing in order to research the effect on the colour fastness. In order to research pigment dispersion prepared by emulsion/pigment blending we changed the ratio of the emulsion and pigment and, the ultrasonic time. The viscosity, conductivity and the centrifugation stability of pigment dispersions were also investigated. The results showed that excessive monomers, could make the properties of polymers become poor. Better properties could be given to the dyed cotton fabrics when the ratio of styrene and butyl acrylate is 7:3. The ultrasonic time determines the smash and dispersion of the pigment. But if the ultrasonic is too long, the stability of the pigment dispersion would be destroyed, the average particle size would be bigger and the fastness of the dyed cotton would be descend. The ratio of pigment and monomers determined the thickness of the polymer. And then it would effect the fastness of the dyed cotton. The dispersion plays the important roles in the dispersion of the pigments. Too much or few dispersion would make the average particle size bigger, and the fastness poor. And in the priparation of the emulsion/pigment blended dispersion, smash time havs great effect on the properties. When smash time is 35s and times is 60, the pigment dispersion can get the best level property. And too much pigment would reduce the centrifuging stability.
