The Status Of Environmental Education In China And Countermeasures

The environment has already become one of the major problems that all humans confront since we entered the 21st century. Environmental education is one important method to solve environmental problems and enhance envrionmental protection. "Base envrionmental protection on education" is Chinese basic national policy. Striving to develop environmental education is of great significance for promoting the long-term, healthy and steady development of Chinese economy.By means of defining the research's purpose and meanning and on condition of the comprehensive analysis and remark for the research documents at home and abroad,environmental education's great effect in environmental protection and important strategitic significance to construct one society where the humans and the nature develop harmoniously are stated.Environmental education's connotation is defined attemptably,and its prupose to make the people get to know of natural environment and put emphasis on enviromental problems is made sure of.Then international environmental eudcation's emerging and developing process is analyzed,and environmental education's position and functiion in environmental protection is demonstrated.On condition that the four different evolution stages of Chinese environmental education is analyzed,the present policies,laws,regulations and management organizations are elaborated on emphasis,and the problems and shortages which exist in Chinese envrionmental education systems are put forward.The developed countries such as USA,Britain,German and Japan accumulated abundant and advanced expierence in middle schools, universities, and nongovernmental organizations'envrionmental education and environmental legislation,wihich is of important reference and enlightment to Chinese environmental educations'development.By means of analyzing the problems and shortages that exist in Chinese environmental education,the developing coutermesures and suggestions are put forward specificly.We should strenghten environmental education's strategitic positon further,fasten the institutional construction,encourage and support the social force's participation,regulate the government and educational organizations'obligation and responsibility and enhance legislation,which will help the healthy,steady and sustainable development of Chinese environmental education.
