Water-based polyurethane as dye fixing agent for fabric have green, good air permeability and can improve softness for dyes fabric. Silicone-modified polyurethane can significantly improve the poor wet rubbing for fabric dyeing, which other fixing agent can't achieve.The organic silicon modifying water-based anionic water-based polyurethane and the organic silicon modifying water-based cationic polyurethane were prepared by way of acetone method using IPDI, PEG-1000, PPG-1000 and DMPA. Viscosity, stability of dispersion and tensile properties, water absorption of emulsion-cast film were studied. The structure of copolymer's film was characterized by IR. The prepared water-based polyurethane was applied on cotton finishing. The influences of dosage of finishing agent, curing temperature, and curing time were investigated and optimized finishing process was acquired. Wash of finishing effects, color cast, breathability, strength and elongation, hand values, fastness to light of treated and untreated and fabric were tested, and analysis of IR were carried out.The results show the prepared polyurethane had good wet rubbing fastness for reactive dye and the copolymer'films had nice mechanical properties. After finishing, rubbing fastness, soaping fastness to light increased while the breaking strength and elongation of fabric decreased. KH-560 modifying cationic water-based polyurethane had softness, smooth, rubbing fastness, soaping fastness, light fastness better than cationic water-based polyurethane, especially washing fastness. Hang values and color cast of fabric changed, but did little effect on wear ability.
