EVA-based hot melt adhesives are mixed of EVA, tackifier, viscosity modifier, fillers and antioxidants. In this paper, the rheological properties of the hot melt adhesives were investigated based on the variation of melt viscosity. With the tackifier and viscosity modifier content and the melt index of EVA increased, the viscosity of hot-melt adhesive decreased and the mobility become better. However, with increasing filler content the viscosity of hot melt adhesive increased. The linear fitting results showed that it was compliance with the WLF equation. With the increasing paraffin content, the shear strength and peel strength increased to maximum and then decline. With the increasing tackifier content, the shear strength increased to maximum and then decline, but the peel strength gradually decrease. With increasing filler content, the shear strength decreased, when the filler content less than 30% the shear strength changes little. With the increase of EVA melt index, shear strength gradually increased. In this paper, a lot of experiments have been done and the formulars were obtained with the amount of EVA 35%, the tackifier 23%, the viscosity modifier 4%. The viscosity and melt index of the hot melt adhesives made in this paper were similar to that of the sample, while the strength less than that of the sample.
