As the invincible opponent of dust and smoke, bag filter plays a very important role in the process of preventing air pollution, whose filterable efficiency can reach as high as 99.99%. The heart of a bag filter is filter material, which is in urgent need of improvement, considering the harsh conditions of global air pollution and the rigid dust-removal requirements from Environment Protection Department.This paper accomplishes the developing and manufacturing of a new kind of PPS/PTFE compound filter material independently by innovative designs such as compound of PPS and PTFE fibers, filling structure of fiber-net, combination of needle-punch and spun-laced reinforcement technology. And thus makes significant contribution to the improvement of filter material resisting to high temperature, as well as the technology development of our country's industrial high temperature gas treatment area.In order to guarantee the success of this research and better accomplish the programme,5 stages were mapped out in accordance with the schedule, which are investigation and preparation stage, new filter designing stage, filter manufacturing stage, property testing and analyzing stage and feasibility analysis of industrial application stage.In the first stage, relative papers and documents were looked up. After participating filter company in investigations and surveys, visiting filter manufacturing factories for the purpose of comprehensively, filter material resisting to high temperature and figuring out the influences of raw material, construction, reinforce method and finishing to filter material's ultimate properties, as well as its main applications are deeply learned. Considering the multiple factors of raw material, construction, reinforce method and finishing, three kinds of spun-laced PPS/PTFE fiber compound filter materials used in industrial dust removal and resisting to high temperature were designed and manufactured by different fiber proportions. All these could be done by the greatest help of Shanghai BG Filter enterprise (referred as BG herein).After that, the three materials' tensile strength and elongation, air permeability, resistance, filterable efficiency and ash removal properties were tested. Judgements and critics are made after comparing the newly-developed PPS/PTFE fiber compound filter materials with other popular and welcomed kinds of filters in all respects.By the compound of PPS and PTFE fiber and the adoption of advanced spun-laced technology, our research realizes the development and manufacture of a new high-performance filter material and will certainly become a role model for similar researches afterwards, in consideration of its advancement and creativity in the filter industry.
