Recent years, the study of soft stab-resistant body armor has become very important thing due to its lightweight and softness. Body armors based on knitted materials have been used wildly for their excellent properties such as lightweight, high price efficiency, good forming abilities etc. in many kinds of fields for personal protection which also have extensive application prospect. However, taking into account wearability, weft kintted fabrics have a greater advantage. But the application of weft kintted fabrics in flexible stab body armors still remains in biaxial weft kintted fabric. At present, few scholars focus on study the tear resistance, stab resistance of traditional weft-knitting fabrics. Therefore, it has practical significance for the design and development of cost-effective soft complex stab-resistant body armors to study the relationship between weft-knitting fabric's tear-resistant properties and quasi-static stab resistance and between bursting properties and quasi-static resistance.In this paper, it found that tear-resistant properties was related to tear direction, fabric weave by study the tear-resistant properties of six kinds of different weft knitted fabrics, but there was no obvious relation between coil length and tear resistance. This research pointed out that the transverse tear-resistant properties of weft knitted fabrics were superior to vertical shear-resistant properties, and weft plain was better than tuck organization.To study the bursting properties of weft-knitting fabrics, six kinds of weft knitted fabrics with different coil length which were weaved from hand-knitting machine were tested billiards-type bursting properties. The results showed weft knitted fabrics' bursting properties were obviously influenced by fabric weave and coil length. The bursting properties of weft plain was better than tuck organization, and there was linear correlation between bursting properties and coil length. The shorter was the coil length, the bigger was the bursting strength. During this study, it also found that the bursting pattens of weft plain stitch and tuck organization were different. In the article, quasi-static stab-resistant strength of weft-knitting fabrics was tested from a quasi-static stab instrument made by ourself. The study found that weft knitted fabrics' quasi-static stab-resistant strength was related to puncture direction. It concluded that the strength of 45°direction was the biggest,90°followed, and 0°was the smallest. The quasi-static stab-resistant strength of tuck organization was better than weft plain stitch. And coil length and fabric layers also had effect on quasi-static stab-resistant properties of weft-knitting fabrics.After studying above properties of weft-knitting fabrics, the relationship between tear resistance and quasi-static stab-resistant properties and the relationship between bursting properties and quasi-static stab-resistant properties were also studied in this paper.
