The pearl powders have good efficacy in both cosmetology and health care while their applications in cosmetic are greatly limited by their nature. The pearl powders'component is mainly calcium carbonate which is one kind of demulsifier and will destroy the emulsion system of cosmetic. Thus the coating on the powders in this paper would be used to prevent its destroy to the emulsion and maintain its efficacy at the same time.Firstly, SiO2 was chosen as one of the coating agents in a neutralized precipitation method, considering the influence of preparation method and parameters on the composite particles'size and coating effect. The pearl powder composite particles were characterized by XRD, laser particle size analyzer, SEM and EDS, FTIR. The results showed that the pearl powder composite particle's size was smaller and the acid resistance obviously increased when the content of SiO2 was 8% with better cosmetology efficacy. And the reaction temperature played an important role in the coating effect while the particles'dispersion may be improved by vacuum drying.Secondly, Al2O3 was chosen as the other coating agent in the neutralized precipitation method, considering the influence of preparation method and parameters on the composite particles'size and coating effect. The pearl powder composite particles were characterized by XRD, laser particle size analyzer, SEM and EDS. The results showed that the composite powders prepared through the neutralized precipitation method were coated effectively. And the size of composite particles was distributed uniformly when the content of Al2O3 was 10 %.Lastly, the potentials of the two kinds of composite particles above were tested by adding them into the emulsions individually and found no obvious water-oil separation either. The results showed that coating agents improved the pearl powders'acid resistance greatly. Moreover, the pearl powder composite particles after coating could be directly added into the emulsion without affecting its beauty efficacy.
