The development technology of PAN-carbon fibers has gained plentiful and substantial achievements, however, only the fiber is prepare to prepreg can be widely applied. The research starts relatively late in domestic, so the market demand mainly depends on imports in China. How to transform the independent development carbon fiber to high quality prepreg, which can substitute the foreign products and furthermore to promote the development of high performance carbon fiber is the research emphasis in this paper.In our research, the carbon fiber/epoxy vinyl ester resin prepreg is prepared, and the PAN-carbon fiber and epoxy vinyl ester resin act as the material, the effect of curing agents of benzoyl peroxide(BPO),dicumyl peroxide(DCP) and tert-butyl peroxybenzoate(TBPB) on the epoxy vinyl ester resin are investigated. The resin glue is prepared by the different concentration of curing agent, the hot-plate method is used to determine the gel time in different temperature. The casting resin is made and the tensile tests determined the concentration of curing agent in different resin glue system, of which the mass percentage of BPO system is 1%, so is the TBPB system, and the DCP system is 2%.The reaction exothermic characteristics of different curing system of resin are researched by means of differential scanning(DSC), and the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used to observe the surface morphology of section of casting. The DSC and SEM method combined with the gel time determined the optium curing technology, which of the TBPB system was cured 2 hous at 120℃, then cured 1 hours at 145℃, the BPO system was cured 2 hours at 92℃,then cured 1 hours at 125℃, similarly the DCP system was cured 2 hours at 120℃, then cured 1 hours at 150℃. With the curing technology, the casting resin and carbon fiber composites are prepared. The mechanical property test and thermogravimetric analysis showed that the composite has good mechanical properties and thermal stability. Especially that the tensile strength of composite made from TBPB system is 385 MPa, the tensile modulus is 4746.25MPa, the bending strength is 1421.61 MPa, the bending modulus is 395.94GPa, and the initial decomposition temperature is 380℃, the maximum rate decomposition temperature is 443℃.
