The chlorosulfonated polyethylene is a special synthesized rubber with highly resistant to the effects of ozone, oxygen, weather, heat, oil, abrasion and chemicals, which made it useful in a number of areas. In this work, the chlorosulfonated polyethylene was synthesized solution methods; we used different equation to study its kinetics degradation. Also discuss the tensile property with different streching rate and the toughening property to Polyvinyl Chloride. The main contents were illustrated as follows:The chlorosulfonated polyethylere were synthesized by solution method, we used the chlorobenzenes, as the solvents, and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) as the materials. The products were characterized by FT-IR (Flourier Transform Infrared spectra). The tensile properties research shows that at the same vulcanizing time, vulcanizing maximum tensile stress and maximum tensile strain are increasing with stretching rate increases. Yet for stretching rate the same situation sulfurization time to grow more, tensile performance is better, with stretching rate increases to 150mm/min. because the high crosslinking degree samples have the low tensile crystallization, while vulcanization short time samples havs low crosslinking degree, thus make tensile crystallization reinforcing effect obvious, and tensile strength and tensile strain increased obviously. The TGA showed that the CSM underwent two steps of degradation. The degradation temperature of all prepared CSM exceeded 250℃which showed very good thermal stability. The degradation kinetics of CSM was studied by Ozawa and Kissinger equation. The thermal degradation of CSM was not a first order reaction. With the increase of heating rate (P), the temperature of degradation is rising gradually. The effect of atmosphere on the thermal degradation behaviors of Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene is discussed. The activation energy E by Ozawa method is slightly higher than that by Kissinger method in the same ambiance. But activation energy E in air is lower than that in nitrogen. The life-span equations of CSM were established in N2 and air, which provided a theoretical basis to CSM for use in specific temperature.PVC is the second most common plastic, and the toughness is poor. The blends of chlorosulfonated polyethylene and PVC can improve the strength of PVC. when the CSM was 10 copies of the blends the strength is up to 1200.
