In this paper, a new β-diketone,2-(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)-1-indone (TFI), whichcontains a trifuorinated alkyl group and a rigid indone group, has been designed andemployed for the synthesis of three series of new TFI lanthanide complexes:1.[Ln(TFI)3(H2O)2][Ln=Pr (1), Nd (2), Sm (3), Eu (4), Gd (5), Tb (6), Dy (7), Ho (8), Er(9), Yb (10)].2.[Ln(TFI)3bpy][Ln=Sm (11), Eu (12), Nd (13), Yb (14), bpy=2,2′-bipyridine]3.[Ln(TFI)3phen][Ln=Sm (15), Eu (16), Nd (17), Yb (18), phen=1,10-phenanthroline], which contain ten lanthanide binary complexes and eightlanthanide ternary complexes. This thesis consists of following three parts:1.2-(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)-1-indone(TFI)were synthesized from1-Indone and ethyltrifluoroacetate by classical Claisen condensation using NaH as strong base. Thecomposition and structure was characterized by means of IR, UV, EI-MS and1H NMR.2. The eighteen complexes have been characterized by Elemental analysis, IR, UV,TG-DSC, FL, NIR and XRD. TG-DSC results show that all the complexes have highthermal stability. X-ray crysrallographic analysis results show each central lanthanideion is coordinated by eight atoms (six oxygen atoms from three TFI ligands and twooxygen atoms from solvent molecules or assistant ligand)3. Analysis of the fluorescence spectra suggested that lanthanide ions (Sm3+, Eu3+,Nd3+, Yb3+) were sensitized by the TFI. The fluorescence intensity of lanthanide ions(Sm3+, Eu3+, Nd3+, Yb3+) were enhanced by the2,2′-bipyridine(Bpy) and1,10-phenanthroline(Phen). Analysis of UV–Vis absorption spectrum of TFI, Roomtemperature emission spectrum of TFI, Phosphorescence spectrum of [Gd(TFI)3(H2O)2],Room temperature emission spectrum of Bpy/Phen, Phosphorescence spectrum ofGd(bpy)2(NO3)3depicted energy transfer between ligands and Ln3+ion have been indetail.
