Normally, hydrocarbon peroxides can be used as initiators in the polymerization of fluorinated monomers. This method can easily introduce the unstable carboxylic groups. The existence of the unstable carboxylic groups makes the products easily degraded, thermally unstable and bubble formation, leading to poor properties. In order to solve these problems, perfluoroacyl initiator is used, which can not only initiate the polymerization of fluorinated monomers at room temperature, but also give predominantly stable polymers with perfluoroalkyl end groups. This thesis involves detailed research on the synthesis of perfluoro-oxa-diacyl peroxides and its application in the polymerization. Perfluoro-oxa-diacyl peroxide initiators were synthesized by perfluoro-oxa-diacyl fluoride, which was prepared by hexafluoropopene oxide in the presence of F~- catalyst. By studying the reaction conditions such as, reaction temperature, reaction time and reaction mole ratios, the appropriate reaction conditions were at last got. Finally, this kind of initiators were used to make polystyrene, methyl methacrylate in bulk polylazation, chlorotrifloroethylene homopolymer and ethylene/chlorotrifloroethylene copolymer in suspension polymerization respectively, these polymers have perfluoroalkyl end groups. The polymerization in the initiation of ammonium persulphate and benzoyl peroxide was compared with that of fluorinated initiators.
