In modern society traffic control system is served as a unique set of public management system following the pace of logistics and transportation.To ensure the traffic efficiency and security, a certain scientific means is required to improve the implementation of a series of traffic rules. The rapid developed social economy makes digital circuit traffic lights fail to meet the increasing traffic pressure. Therefore, new methods must be designed to improve its complexity and instability. Nowadays as the fruit of science and technology, the PLC technology has shown its much importance in various industries, and the programmable controller is given much more attention for its miniaturization, low price and high reliability.By designing two phase traffic signal control system on the basic principle of programmable controller, this thesis focuses on the control of traffic intersections through PLC technology with standard single intersection as the research object. In order to achieve maximum economic benefits and save the cost of electronic components, Omron series of PLC is used to control the traffic lights. Also on-the-spot investigation shows an optimal program is taken to relieve the current traffic pressure.
