Highway Tunnel Lighting Design And Research

With the rapid construction and development of highway in mountainous area, proportion of the tunnel project in highway engineering and construction is increasing. Meanwhile, tunnel lighting system design and maintenance also becomes more and more important. Good tunnel lighting design should consider tunnel length, pavement types, line shape of highway, interior decoration, sidewalk, designing speed, traffic volume and vehicle types, etc. Choose correct illuminant, colour, and types of lamps. Arrange position of lamps, and design the lighting induction and lighting control, in order to provide necessary visual information for drivers, improve safty and comfort. In addition, the operation costs can be reduced.Accordding to the visual characteristics of people, this paper analyzed a series of special visual problems which occur in the whole process of approaching and entering a tunnel. This paper introduced the composition of tunnel lighting system and detailed designing points. Based on the analysis of the performance of lamps, the reasonable types and position of lamps were discussed. Further research on lighting control, lighting maintenance and energy conservation design has be finished. In tunnel induction lighting design, an innovative opinion of using the solar photovoltaic technology and SUNFOR rare-earth illuminant powder which can store the light for a long time were proposed.This paper took Qinling Zhongnan Mountain highway tunnel for example, verified the theory studied, and discussed the rationality of design by means of the analysis of lighting design, lighting data collected and tunnel lighting effect.This paper used much achievements, good experience and new ideas for reference that obtained by domestic and foreign scholars and experts in tunnel lighting system field. This paper provided theoretical reference for highway tunnel lighting design, construction and scientific research. Also it is useful for drivers and department of traffic management.
