During'11th five-year plan', Chinese high-speed railway achieved great development. In high-speed railway construction, we made the important outstanding achievements.8358 km high-speed railway has already been put into operation, which provides strong railway transport security for economic and social development. Traction power supply system is the critical components of high-speed railway as the high-speed train's driving force, power supply system supplies power to signals and communications. Both of them must meet high reliability, high availability, low maintenance cost and low risk requirement.This paper is supported by Beijing Power Supply Section of Beijing Railway Bureau: Research on Catenary System Reliability Maintenace for Beijing-Tianjin Inter-city Express. And based on it, the in-depth study of theory has made. The main research contents and conclusions are summed up as follows.(1) Introduced the basic indicators of reliability theory, electric railway catenary system and its key components, failure probability density function of exponential distribution and meaning of each parameter. The fitting method of failure probability density function of catenary system component defect and the fault tree analysis of reliability of catenary system have been proposed. And also the analysis process of reliability of catenary system has been given.(2) The demand analysis of maintenance management system of catenary system of Beijing-Tianjin inter-city express has been accomplished, including the system function module design, performance requirements and its system architecture design. All the fault records since the operation have been analysed, and refer to the maintenance procedure of catenary system, all the components are divided into 12 categories,35 components and 256 defects with its corresponding maintenance measures.Based on database design, with the use of VB and relational database, the maintenance management system has been developed, which can manage all the components and its failure information classified, analyze the frequency and time distribution of defects of each power supply zone. Through statistical analysis of the data above, the law of defects has been given.(3) Analysis and calculation the reliability of catenary system of Beijing-tianjin inter-city express. The maintenance management system is used to statistics the failure data of 8 key kinds of equipment defect, and then its failure rate have been caculated. In combination with analysis of other component defect, the fault tree bottom events have been given with its failure rate. After establishment of the fault tree module of catenary system failure, firstly, used Fussel-Vesely method to get the minimum cut sets of the fault tree, and then the quantitative analysis theory of fault tree have been made to calculate the reliability of catenary system of Beijing-tianjin inter-city express. The calculation results of reliability, unreliability and MTBF are respectively 0.99356 0.00644 and 0.425 years.The research results of this paper have an important guiding significance to improve the reliability and operation maintenance management level of catenary system of Beijing-Tianjin inter-city express.
