This paper mainly introduced the advantages and disadvantages of several time transfer techniques, the reason of PTP (Precision Time Protocol) rising and its advanced features. By analyzing the role and significance of the time synchronization system applied in power grids, the main problems and present research situation are summarized. Also the basic concept of PTP technique, synchronization principle, message format and transmission mode are introduced. Meanwhile the optimum clock algorithm and key algorithm of port state management are discussed. According to the characteristics of PTP high precision time service, the hardware and software implement scheme of PTP time service module, which includes software implement of time service protocol, hardware of protocol processing and driver and hardware modules supporting PTP time service protocol, are proposed. Based on the requirements of PTP, a testing scheme of time service is compiled, according to which the test is implemented in details and test results are analyzed. Moreover, an application of PTP time service module in a 220KV digital substation in Henan and its operation effect are enumerated. Finally, the prospects of PTP and time synchronization technique applied in power grids are discussed and forecasted. |
