Water pace uneven distribution is a typical characteristics for the distribution of water resource in China, in order to fundamentally ease the serious water shortage in China northern regions, our country has been in the construction of inter-basin water transfer project, especially the large-scale South-to-North Water Transfer Project, which is a outstanding water conservancy project.Aqueduct is a overhead bridge typ cross structure, which could be used not only for carrying water across other channes, depressions, roads, railways, mountains and rivers etc,but also be used as drainage and water diversion. Aqueduct is one of the most widely used cross structure for the water diversion project, water supply project and irrigation hydraulic structure.A large number of aqueducts need to be built in the middle route of South-to-North Water Transfer Project. These regions where the aqueducts need to be built are mostly as a seismic intensity VII and higher degree of regional, some of them are still high incidence of earthquakes. Therefore the seismic design of these aqueducts has a vital impact for the security and economic operation of the middle route of South-to-North Water Transfer Project. In this paper, the actual project Baiquan aqueduct is used as an example of practical engineering, first of all, the structure type and the design calculation are determined according to the project summary and geological conditions.Secondly, the finite element model of the aqueduct is established by using the finite element software ANSYS,and the static properties of aqueduct is obtained through analyzing the structure of three different conditions of deformation, displacement and force;Third, the seismic response of the aqueduct structure is analyzed:modal analysis, the top 20 order finite element model of the vibration characteristics and corresponding vibration type feature are listed; Spectrum analysis, which is using strikeout decomposition response spectrum method to analyze under three different condition; Time history analysis, through inputing Elcentro seismic wave aqueduct structure is analyzed using the seismic dynamic time-history analysis method. The engineering design calculations are verified through the above static and seismic analysis.
