| Hot rolled asphalt is a unique form of pavement skid resisitence, and it has been successfully applied in many coutries. Although it is perfect in all aspects of road performance, but it is truly a blank in our study. This article illustrated that HRA is a mixture of suspended dense structure without skeleton by the contrast with the traditional mixture, such as AC and SMA mixture, and analyzed the factors of the mixtures strength by grading structure.By the Marshall design method comparison between China and Britain, the authour come to a conclusion of which we can desigh HRA mix with the method of our own. Refering to the BS 594 specification, and based on the simplified method of linear interpolation, we get the actual grading envelope of HRA according with the situation in China.Based on the selected gradding and the proportion of asphalt, this article conducted experimental studies in the road performance of HRA with different alsphalt and fine aggragate. By the studies, we can make a conclusion that HRA will get a perfect performance of high-temperature resistance to deformation, low temperature anti-cracking, and the resistence to water damage when high viscosity alsphalt and manufactured sand has been used. Besides, the study of freezing-thawing cycle indicates that there is a rarely effect to the ability of HRA to low temperature anti-cracking, and the resistence to water damage, and it is stabilized after a certain number of cycles.By acting repeated load on the skid resistence specimen in the rutting test instrument, this article analyzed the decay characteristic of HRA pavment friction pendulum value. And by the contrast with SMA, AC-C, the author make a conclusion that HRA pavement is appropriate for the severe cold district, but has a severe decay signal also.In the end, this article makes a conclusion that HRA pavement is adequate to be used in the severe district where needs more ability of low temperature anti-cracking, and the resistence to water damage. |
