Natural sand and gravel is plentiful in our country, but in most time it is used in sub-base. In order to make use of the resource and control the cost, The paper introduced lime-ash fly stabilized sand and gravel and cement stabilized sand and gravel which are used in base of second road asphalt pavement. Based on investigation, analysis and experiments, the maximum particlesize and the key particlesize are confirmed. Directed by the Grading Theory, the paper takes some experiments such as unconfined compression, shrinkage, anti-freeze and durability. The proportion design method which is suitable for second road asphalt pavement is gained by multitude road-related performance and paving test road in Baoding. Alsothe paper analyzed the problems in construction and give some effect advice. The program for aggregate grading calculating is gave to design the aggregate gradation quickly. From the economic analysis , we find that using natural sand and gravel can construct preferable base in second road and the cost, therefore it has favorable future.
