Wind energy resource in the total reserves in West Inner Mongolia is 732 million kW. With construction of large-scale wind farm, acceptance of wind power in West Inner Mongolia Power Grid capacity becomes an urgent issue, which require a combination of the actual situation of wind power. This article mainly for that is on the following research work:(1) On the foundation of reading lots of references and involving in the actual work items, Outline the need for the development of wind power and its feasibility. Then introduce the hot spots of wind power at home and abroad at this stage. At the last clarify the acceptance of wind power to the current status and problems in particular local conditions.(2) Instruct the basic thesis project basis and related conditions, including years to determine the level of research and power planning and structures, also load level prediction on each level year. Determine to do research on 2008 and 2010. Predict the highest power load and the maximum capacity of the outgoing in North China Power Grid each year.(3) Analysis the influence on the steady-state characteristics when wind farms connecting to the grid in western inner Mongolia, including the influence on line power and node voltage of the system, the change of reactive power on the regulation mode of reactive voltage and reactive power. Initially identify the program of wind power into grid and a reasonable range of wind power installed capacity in western inner Mongolia. Derive a reasonable solution of wind power into grid in West inner Mongolia region, particularly in Alashan, Baotou City, Bayannur City, Xilin Gol League, Wulanchabu City and other places.(4) Analysis the influence on transient stability of the system after wind farms into grid, including the follows: Judge the state of wind farms connected into grid according to the requirements of transient stability. If not, derive the installed capacity of wind farms when additional measures are not taken. Propose the appropriate technical measures to improve transient stability of the grid. The research, taking the impact of other wind farms into account, Consider wind turbine control conditions, system stability criterion and extreme voltage protection settings of the wind turbines, etc, based on the calculation model. The three phase short circuit fault and conventional unit trip are discussed.(5) Analyze and summarize the ability of West Inner Mongolian power grid to accommodate wind power: Large-scale wind power into the West Inner Mongolia power grid have a greater impact on voltage level, needing to take a series of reactive power compensation. Wind farms need to be removed timely when three-phase short circuit fault occurs on certain lines, 2008. Grid voltage level can be maintained within the allowable range. Taking certain measures to achieve reactive power compensation, the transient stability is influenced little by wind farms.
