As the representative of intermittent energy, wind power is growing rapidly and its penetration proportion is rising fast in power system in recent years, it will be the third-largest conventional energy in China by the end of2020. With the increasing share of wind power in power system, the impact of its integration is become more widespread. Power flow distribution is changed by grid-connected wind farms and the volatility of wind turbines output power and its operating characteristic can bring power quality and stability issues to the grid. In order to increase the penetration of wind farm, the maximum capacity which can be integrated in a certain power system should be concerned. The power quality issues cause by wind power intermittency and the capacity of power system on acceptance of wind power restricted by peak regulation, stability issues is mainly analyzed. The main contents include:(1) Influences caused by grid-connected wind farm is analyzed. The wind sources and its fluctuation characteristic is analyzed, the power quality issues caused by power fluctuation is analyzed according to the different wind model. The grid stability issue caused by wind penetration is discussed.(2) The impact to peaking capacity when wind power integrated into power system is studied and the calculation method of the capacity of power system on acceptance of wind power based on peak regulation is given, the impact to the stability of power system when connected with a large scale wind farms is analyzed and the capacity of power system on acceptance of wind power restricted by stability issues is given.(3) Use Xinjiang power, grid as a sample grid, the grid model with nine wind farms in PS ASP is built and the capacity of Xinjiang grid on acceptance of wind power which is restricted by peak regulation, static stability and transient stability is studied.(4) Several methods is introduced to improve the capacity of wind power, different type of energy storage system and its application range in power system is illustrated, at the same time, in order to improve the capacity of wind power, power compensation strategies, decentralized access of wind farm, grid connection method of wind farm based on VSC-HVDC power transmission system is introduced.
