Stability of road embankment is the key technical to low-level road construction. We attaches great importance to soft soil foundation stability for highway, and launched a series of scientific research, currently has become a more complete technology system for highway embankment stability. But for low-grade highway stability of soft soil foundation, the work is very limited. This article research the soft soil properties of highway and the treatment scheme of soft foundation. Then comprehensive consideration of the impact of highway soil foundation treatment of various factors and combines the features of low-grade roads proposed a affordable way----replacement cushion method and the reinforcement method to deal with low-grade soft subgrade.Secondly, replacement method and the reinforcement are carried out a detailed analysis of their own. The mechanism of replacement method and the thickness of its replacement cushion is discussed. By using ANSYS finite element model simulation, the relationship of the thickness of the sand cushion and maximum vertical displacement obtained with the thickness of low-grade highway replacement sand cushion is about 50cm ~ 150cm. The reinforcement mechanism was clearly explained, use of geogrid reinforced sand cushion to handle soft ground, and it is one or more layers formed of geosynthetics overlaied in the traditional sand blanket. By comparing the reinforced and unreinforced embankment can be seen that after reinforced the maximum vertical displacement reduce from 186mm to 153mm, settlement decreased about 18%, and after reinforced the maximum horizontal displacement of soil decreased about 8%.Finally, relying on the actual project, the actual measurement results compared with the ANSYS finite element model simulations. Actual settlement value of the maximum difference with the numerical results of not more than 8.5cm.The research results will help improve the soft ground treatment technology, and can provide some help for technical staff.
